Gas leaks, odor of gas, damaged lines, carbon monoxide symptoms and water main breaks are all considered emergencies.
If you smell gas, do not attempt to locate the leak. Instead, leave the house or building right away. Do not use any electrical switches, appliances, lights, telephones, or mobile devices, as an electrical charge could create a spark. When you are in a safe place, call M.U.D.'s emergency hotline at 402.554.7777 or 9-1-1.
If someone is showing symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, call 9-1-1 immediately. Symptoms are like the flu.
If you have a water-related emergency, call 402.554.7777. Our personnel are ready to assist you 24/7. When in doubt, call us immediately.
Help Us Heat the Streets for Those in Need. Save the date for the 18th annual Heat the Streets Run & Walk for Warmth on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Aksarben Village. Proceeds from the event support utility assistance programs for Metropolitan Utilities District and Omaha Public Power District customers. This event is our largest fundraiser for utility assistance, and the need is greater than ever. Registration opens Friday, November 29 — register early to save! Visit heatthestreetsomaha.org for details and updates.
Beware of Utility Worker Imposters. We would like to remind our customers to be aware of individuals impersonating utility workers. If someone comes to your home claiming to be with the gas or water company, be sure to ask to see their M.U.D. ID badge. Click here for more safety tips.
Round Up and Help Out. Did you know rounding up your monthly utility bill can help others in need? Simply write “round up” on the front of your bill payment stub, or fill out the contact form at mudomaha.com/contact and select “Donate to Utility Assistance” to enroll in the round-up option. M.U.D.’s Home Fund provides bill assistance to those in need, and 100% of funds go directly into our community to help others. We challenge our customers who are able to round up their bill or make a donation to help their neighbors and friends. Visit mudomaha.com/homefund.
Preparing for Winter. As colder weather begins to arrive, we encourage customers to conserve energy to prepare for higher heating bills. One way to avoid bill fluctuations is to join the Budget Payment Plan, which allows you to pay the same bill amount every month. Lowering your thermostat during the winter and reducing air leaks in your home may result in cost savings. For more tips to prepare and save, click here.
