M.U.D. Earns Governor’s Wellness Award 

Metropolitan Utilities District has earned a 2026 Governor’s Wellness Award. This marks the District’s second time receiving statewide recognition for its commitment to employee health and well-being. M.U.D. received the Grower Award, which identifies organizations whose wellness programs are making a positive impact on employee health behaviors and workplace engagement. 

The acknowledgement highlights the success of M.U.D.’s BALANCE program. The comprehensive initiative supports employees’ physical, mental and emotional well-being through education, preventive care and healthy lifestyle opportunities. 

“Personnel routinely promote healthy opportunities including the annual wellness fairs and Benefits Fair, on-site vaccine clinics across all District facilities, on-site mammograms, PSA tests and biometric screenings, team participation in community wellness walks and the Omaha Corporate Games, just to name a few,” said Katie Pulte, manager, compensation and benefits. 

One of the program’s signature events is the annual Benefits Fair. Each October it brings healthcare services and wellness resources directly to employees. 

“This recognition reflects our continued commitment to creating a workplace culture that values employee wellness,” Katie said. “The success of BALANCE is driven by the participation and enthusiasm of employees across the District, and we’re proud to offer programs and resources that support their overall well-being.” 

The Governor’s Wellness Award program recognizes Nebraska employers that foster workplace cultures supporting employee health through innovative wellness initiatives. This year, 31 Nebraska organizations were honored for promoting physical, mental, emotional, social and financial well-being among their employees.
