Governor Proclamation Recognizes Importance of Drinking Water and Nebraska Utilities
While Drinking Water Week has officially passed, the importance of providing and having access to safe, reliable drinking water remains top of mind across Nebraska. Earlier this week at the State Capitol, Governor Jim Pillen formally recognized Drinking Water Week (May 3-9, 2026) through a statewide proclamation, highlighting the critical role of water in supporting public health, economic growth and maintaining our quality of life.
Representing the District during the proclamation ceremony was Emily Hovda Walton, director of Program Management, who joined water professionals from across the state. “This recognition is so important because of the essential work the people of M.U.D. and so many other utilities are doing every day to provide safe drinking water for our customer-owners,” she said.
The District extends its appreciation and thanks to all of our team members whose expertise and dedication contribute to keeping this valuable resource on tap. From treatment plants and daily testing to engineering and installing new infrastructure that expands our distribution system, the work of M.U.D. makes a lasting impact.
