M.U.D.’s Transportation Fleet Awarded for Sustainability Efforts

Metropolitan Utilities District was recently recognized with a 2025 Green Fleet Award by the NAFA Fleet Management Association.

M.U.D.’s transportation fleet was ranked 38th in the nation for sustainability efforts. The Omaha-based public utility’s fleet includes 110 compressed natural gas (CNG) assets, including vans, compact cars and light- and medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Fleet vehicles that operate on CNG have substantially lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to petroleum-based fuels, as well as lower fuel and maintenance costs.

“On behalf of our customer-owners, board of directors and employees, we are proud to accept this recognition,” said M.U.D. President Mark Doyle. “M.U.D. has a strong history of supporting cleaner transportation fuel for our own fleet and business partner fleets in the metro Omaha area.”

The Green Fleet Awards recognize peak-performing fleet sustainability efforts and honors fleets who have enhanced practices to make a positive impact on the environment. This annual honor recognizes organizations that execute groundbreaking and inventive programs for their green initiatives. For more information, visit their website.
