WHAT IS AN EMERGENCY?

Gas leaks, odor of gas, damaged lines, carbon monoxide symptoms and water main breaks are all considered emergencies.

If you smell gas, do not attempt to locate the leak. Instead, leave the house or building right away. Do not use any electrical switches, appliances, lights, telephones, or mobile devices, as an electrical charge could create a spark. When you are in a safe place, call M.U.D.'s emergency hotline at 402.554.7777 or 9-1-1.

If someone is showing symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, call 9-1-1 immediately. Symptoms are like the flu.

Update 9/29/2025

The crew continues to work on buttoning up excavations.
All available excavations that can be repaired (where work is no longer necessary) have been turned over to the City of Omaha for street repair.
In two weeks, the crew will begin work on Shamrock Road near 94th Street. During this work, Shamrock Road will be reduced to a single lane of traffic, and vehicles will not be able to turn north onto 94th Street. We ask that all traffic in this area use caution when work resumes. We anticipate this traffic impact will last for approximately one month and is subject to change.
The water main installation crew is expected to complete their work by the end of October. However, the plumber will remain onsite—likely through the end of the year—to reconnect individual water services to the new main.
All lawn restoration that can take place while weather is favorable will proceed. If weather conditions become too cold to restore lawns, this restoration will be postponed until next Spring.
93rd and Leavenworth – this excavation will remain in place until the end of the project – it’s a final connection location.
93rd and Shamrock – this also is a final connection location.
After all service work is completed—likely next year—the crew will return to the area to cutoff and abandon old mains.

NORTHERN HALF OF THE PROJECT AREA

New water main and/or hydrants have been installed.
Our contracted plumber, Veskerna, has begun the process of reconnecting individual water services to the new main. During this work, Veskerna will remove the temporary dirt placed near your water service, complete the reconnection, and then restore the area. Please note, there will be a brief water service interruption during your reconnection. Veskerna will restore lawns after the reconnection work is completed as long as the weather remains favorable.

SOUTHERN HALF OF THE PROJECT AREA

Some new main and/or have been installed.
New excavations will be dug.
