WHAT IS AN EMERGENCY?

Gas leaks, odor of gas, damaged lines, carbon monoxide symptoms and water main breaks are all considered emergencies.

If you smell gas, do not attempt to locate the leak. Instead, leave the house or building right away. Do not use any electrical switches, appliances, lights, telephones, or mobile devices, as an electrical charge could create a spark. When you are in a safe place, call M.U.D.'s emergency hotline at 402.554.7777 or 9-1-1.

If someone is showing symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, call 9-1-1 immediately. Symptoms are like the flu.

Las fugas de gas, el olor a gas, las tuberías de gas dañadas, los síntomas de monóxido de carbono y roturas en las tuberías principales de agua son consideradas emergencias.

Update 11/19/2025. Our contractor, Backlund Plumbing, will soon be excavating on both sides of 50th Street to reconnect each individual water service to the new main. Because southbound traffic is currently closed, northbound traffic must also be closed to safely complete this work. Please note, the closure will only be during daytime hours.

ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC

Time. 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday – Friday; the closure will reopen to traffic each morning and afternoon to accommodate the rush hours

Duration. Two weeks, barring any unplanned delays

Other Impacts. The crew will coordinate with trash and U.S. Postal Service providers to ensure their services can continue without disruption. Driveways will remain accessible. If the crew is ever blocking your access, please kindly ask them to move temporarily—they’d be happy to accommodate.
