How to pay my bill

  1. Click here to view your bill, account history and pay your bill on-line with a credit/debit card. No charge for this service.
    • You will need to have your social security number on the M.U.D. account before you can activate the system. Call 554.6666 to make sure your social security number is on file.
    If you received a shut-off notice and are paying after the due date on the shut-off notice, please contact us at 504.7002 to avoid interruption of service. Paying on-line with a credit card after the due date on the shut-off notice without calling us will not stop the shut-off.
  2. Pay with credit/debit card via the phone. Call 554.6666. No charge for this service.
  3. Pay with credit/debit card at our Downtown Headquarters, 1723 Harney St. No charge for this service.
  4. Bank draft payment through your bank.
  5. Mail monthly payment and the bottom portion of the bill in the envelope provided (address: M.U.D., 1723 Harney St., Omaha, NE 68102).
  6. Drop off your payment at our Downtown Headquarters, weekdays, except holidays, 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. There also is a 24-hour deposit box on the northeast corner of the building at 1723 Harney St., and in the entrance to the M.U.D. building at 3100 S. 61st. Ave.
  7. A number of banks, Hy-Vee grocery stores and the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) also accept M.U.D. payments. Click here for an address list.

Bank Draft Payment
With the Bank Draft Payment, there's no need to worry because your gas and water bill will be paid automatically every month -- just like direct deposits and other automatic payments. Forget about stamps, writing checks and late payment fees. You will receive a copy of your bill every month, and may cancel your participation at any time.

To sign up for this convenience, call 554.6666 or fill out the authorization form and send it to us with a voided check to: Bank Draft Payments, Metropolitan Utilities District, 1723 Harney St., Omaha, NE 68102-1960.

Terms of Authorization for the Bank Draft Payments
The financial institution named on the authorization form is authorized to pay my monthly Metropolitan Utilities District bill, and to deduct each payment from my checking/savings account.

I understand M.U.D. may make needed adjustments to entries. I agree that each payment shall be the same as a check personally signed by me. This authority remains in effect until revoked by me.

I have the right to stop payment of a charge by timely notification to M.U.D. prior to charging my checking or savings account. I understand, however, the financial institution or the Metropolitan Utilities District each reserves the right to terminate the bank draft payment option (or my participation therein).

Budget Plan
Though seasonal temperatures vary, your gas and water bill remains the same every month with the Budget Plan. Your household's annual gas and water use is spread evenly over 12 months, so the payment is the same every month!

Your budget payment is based on your annual use divided across a 12-month period. This figure is adjusted for average temperatures to project normal natural gas and/or water use and any anticipated rate change.

Your monthly payment amount will be reviewed during the budget year to verify projected natural gas and/or water use. If necessary, an adjustment to the monthly payment amount may be made. Any adjustment triggers a new 12-month cycle.

At the end of the budget year, a credit or debit balance automatically is factored into the next 12-month cycle (this also includes customers who take advantage of the bank draft option). Note: When your monthly account balance is a credit figure, we pay interest to your account.

You may begin the Budget Payment Plan any month of the year. You may cancel the plan any time. If you have any questions, please call us at 554.6666, or e-mail us.

If you're having trouble paying your M.U.D. bill, please give us a call. We may have a payment plan to fit your needs. We also can refer you to a number of agencies who may be able to give you financial assistance. Call us at 504.7002.

The United Way of the Midlands 2-1-1 Program also is another option. By calling 211, representatives of the United Way of the Midlands may be able to refer you to social service agencies which help with utility bills in emergencies.
