Mike McGowan elected M.U.D. Board Chair

Metropolitan Utilities District’s board of directors today elected Mike McGowan as chairperson of the board and Amy Lindsay as vice-chairperson for 2012.

McGowan was appointed to the board in 2010 to fill the vacancy left when Mary Kay Begley died. Lindsay was elected to the board in 2008.

Other directors are: Tim Cavanaugh, Tom Dowd, Dave Friend, Jack Frost and Steve Patterson.

McGowan also appointed board committee chairs, including:

The board meets at 9 a.m. the first Wednesday of every month at 1723 Harney St.

The District provides safe drinking water to more than 201,800 customer-owners in Omaha, Bellevue, Bennington, Carter Lake, La Vista, Ralston, Waterloo and the Papio-Missouri Natural Resources District (which supplies water to Fort Calhoun). In addition, the District is the fifth largest public gas utility in the United States, serving natural gas to 216,826 customer-owners in Omaha, Bennington, Fort Calhoun, Springfield, Yutan and 85 percent of Bellevue.
