2.24.09 Counseling for customers with shut-off notices Metropolitan Utilities District will provide offices in its Downtown lobby, 1723 Harney St., where customers with utility shut-off notices may meet with financial counselors from the United Way of the Midlands. The counseling program runs Tuesday, February 17 through Friday, May 1.Customers do not need to make an appointment. They should check in with the lobby receptionist. Counselors will be available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Housebound customers unable to travel to the downtown office should call the United Way's 2-1-1 referral service for help.Counselors helped 442 households in the last two years. This is the 24th year for the program. A customer-owned utility, M.U.D. serves more than 196,800 water and 209,487 natural gas customers in the metro Omaha area. |
