4.2.08 Board presents Outstanding Service Awards to Rech and Taylor The M.U.D. Board of Directors presented Russ Rech and Ron Taylor with the Outstanding Service Award today at its monthly meeting. Rech, a crew leader, and Taylor, a pipelayer, in Construction, were honored for actions they took January 16 to help a man who slipped and fell on the ice. They were driving on Center Street and noticed a man lying in the parking lot of a business. They stopped and offered their assistance to two bystanders who were unsure of what to do. One of the bystanders was the son of the elderly man who had slipped on the ice and was lying face down on the ground. Rech and Taylor verified that 911 was called and covered the man to protect him from the cold concrete. They kept him calm, comforted and conscious until rescue personnel arrived. M.U.D. Chairman Tom Dowd presented Rech and Taylor with plaques and thanked them for taking the initiative to help an injured citizen. Rech joined the District in 1992. This is the third time he has received an Outstanding Service Award. He also was recognized in 1995 and 2004. Taylor joined the District in 2004. M.U.D. established the Outstanding Service Award program in 1978. A customer-owned utility, M.U.D. serves 194,809 water and 207,553 natural gas customers in the metro Omaha area. |
