MUD donation:

Metropolitan Utilities District employees recently donated $5,800 to the Heat Aid Fund. A barbecue lunch raised more than $1,000, and the eighth annual Meter Readers Golf Tournament brought in more than $4,700.

Since 2000, the district's meter readers have raised more than $30,000 for the fund, which since its inception in 1983 has served more than 25,000 older and physically or mentally challenged customers.
