6.8.04 M.U.D. boss gets 'president' title The head of the Metropolitan Utilities District is getting a new title. Tom Wurtz, MUD's general manager, has had "president" added to his job title. The board approved the change at its meeting last week. Jack Frost, chairman of the board, said the change is being made to eliminate confusion outsiders might have about who is in charge at the utility. Because the title "general manager" is written into Nebraska law, the board will ask the Legislature next year to pass a law recognizing the use of "president." The change in title is not accompanied by a change in pay. Wurtz is paid $195,000 a year, having received a raise in December. He will retain his position as secretary to the board. The Omaha Public Power District made a similar change in 1985. |
