M.U.D. asks customers to use water wisely

The Metropolitan Utilities District (M.U.D.) is asking customers to voluntarily reduce outdoor water use.

There is adequate water for normal use, however due to the hot temperatures, the water system is operating at near capacity. Reducing the use of outdoor water will help meet the peak demand.

Customers can conserve water by:

  • Water during the cool part of the day.
  • Water lawn once or twice a week, allowing water to soak down to the roots (6-8 inches).
  • Avoid watering on windy days.
  • Adjusting sprinklers to water only the lawn, and not the sidewalk or street.
  • Using a broom, not a hose and water, for outdoor cleaning.
  • Washing a car with a pail of soapy water and using the hose only to rinse the car.
