Recall to repair gas boilers
ECR International, Utica, NY, is voluntarily recalling about 8,000 gas-fired boilers. The burners on these boilers could produce excess carbon monoxide (CO) in the flue, due to improper combustion, posing a risk of CO poisoning to consumers.
There have not been any reports of injuries or incidents relating to these boilers, however the recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries. The firm discovered the problem with these boilers during routine testing.
The recalled boilers have the brand names -- Dunkirk, Sears Kenmore, Bryant, Carrier, Payne, Lennox, Pennco -- written on the front of the boilers.
The model and serial number are located on the data plate located on the right side of the boiler.
The following models and serial numbers are included in the recall:
Independent heating contractors sold and installed these boilers nationwide from August 2001 - March 2002 for $1,200 to $3,000.
