Videos, traveling demonstrations and water plant tours for school groups illustrate the importance of natural gas and water and the safe use of these resources. Your Silent Partner (demonstration) Reviews the basics of natural gas: where it comes from, how it works and how it serves the public. (1 hour: 1st - 12th grade)

Carbon Monoxide Safety (presentation) Reviews safeguards to keep your home CO-free (30-45 minutes: adult)

Live Green, Think Blue: Use Resources Wisely (video) Helpful tips to save energy, winterize your home and use water wisely. Learn how to save money while protecting valuable resources. (10 minutes: 7th grade - adult)

Compressed natural gas vehicles (presentation) Learn how compressed natural gas, or CNG, is a clean, economical alternative fuel for transportation. (30-45 minutes: high school - adult)

Sniffy (video) features Sniffasaurus and Dr. Science who teach children about natural gas safety. (2nd - 6th grade)

Your Safety is Our Concern (video, DVD) Tells what you need to know about natural gas safety, reporting emergencies, etc. (9 minutes: 7th grade - adult)

WATER PROGRAMS

Water plant tours -- Elementary school groups may tour the Florence Water Treatment Plant between May 1 - September 15 (regular business days). With advance reservations for groups of 10 to 80 on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2:45 p.m (1 hour)

A Trip Behind Your Water Faucet (video, demonstration) Shows how M.U.D. "manufactures" billions of gallons of water every year. (1 hour: 1st - 12th grade)

WATER VIDEOS

Adventures of Ethel Mermaid and Tad Pole -- A five-part live-action video series which teaches children the wonders of water and the importance of protecting this valuable resource. Subjects include: The Hydrologic Cycle; From Source to Tap; Water Treatment; Source Protection; and Fun Water Facts. (each video, approximately 9 minutes: 1st - 6th grade)

Consumer's Guide to Water Conservation (video) Presents wise water use tips for indoors and outdoors. (20 minutes: high school - adult)

Inside the Weather -- See how water, air and heat from the sun create weather, why we have different seasons and the five layers of the earth's atmosphere. Learn fascinating facts about hurricanes and tornados, droughts and floods, and the hottest, coldest, wettest and driest places on earth. (15 minutes: 4th - 8th grade)

Liquid Assets-- A 90-minute documentary, produced by Penn State Public Broadcasting (2008), spotlights infrastructure successes and challenges (replacement of older water, gas and sewer lines) in 10 American communities -- Atlanta, Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburg, Herminie, PA, and Washington, D.C. (90 minutes: 8th grade -adult)

Top Consumer Questions About Cryptosporidium -- This video explains what this waterborne parasite is and how water utilities remove or kill it. It will answer questions about bottled water, home filtration devices and at-risk people. (11 minutes: high school - adult)

Top Consumer Questions About Drinking Water -- Improve your knowledge of drinking water with information, humor and compelling statistics (11 minutes: 6th grade - adult)

Water Follies (video) Teaches the basics of water and why smart kinds care for this important resource. Great when combined with "A Trip Behind Your Water Faucet." (7 minutes: K - 6th grade)

We Treat Water Right: The Basics of Water Quality (video) Presents the basics of water treatment, quality control, water resources, source protection and government regulation. (12 minutes: high school - adult)

What Do You Know About H2O? -- Highlights the importance of using water wisely year round. (21 minutes: 6th grade - adult)

Whaddaya Know About H2O? -- Educates children about water conservation, its characteristics, and its role in society through 30 self-contained, one-minute segments. Includes compelling visuals, real-world examples and fun facts-perfect for the classroom. (DVD and teacher's guide; 30 minutes; 3rd - 8th grade)

Your Own Backyard -- A Xeriscape Primer -- Learn how to design an attractive water conserving landscape in your yard to reduce outdoor water use by 30-80 percent (53 minutes: adult)
