Videos, traveling demonstrations and water plant tours illustrate the importance of natural gas and water and the safe use of these resources. All programs are presented at no charge.

Natural Gas Programs

Sniffasaurus or "Sniffy," our lovable dinosaur (live character) delights children wherever he goes while teaching the importance of natural gas safety. Perfect for fairs, exhibitions, class visits. (K-5th grade; visits to preschools and day care centers are not available.)

Gus and Natalie Explore the World of Natural Gas (video).This cartoon tells about the many uses of natural gas, where it comes from, how it gets to your home, and gives safety tips all children should know. (9 minutes: K-5th grade)

Your Silent Partner (demonstration) Reviews the basics of natural gas: where it comes from, how it works and how it serves the public. (25 minutes: 7th grade-adult)

Safeguarding Your Home Against Carbon Monoxide: The Power of Prevention (video) Reviews safeguards to keep your home CO-free (17 minutes: adult)

A History of Innovations: The Natural Gas Industry -- Highlights the history of the natural gas industry from the discovery of natural gas in the U.S. to its development as the fuel of the future. (15 minutes: 6th grade-adult)

The Wonder of Natural Gas -- Features a modern-day "Mr. Wizard" who teaches his class about the amazing properties of natural gas. (15 minutes: 6th grade-adult)

The Road to Clean Air --Tells about compressed natural gas (CNG) and how it is used as an alternate fuel for vehicles. (12 minutes: 6th grade-adult)

Trip Behind Your Water Faucet (slide show or video, demonstration) Shows how M.U.D. "manufactures" billions of gallons of water every year. (45 minutes: 1st grade-adult)

Water Follies (video) Teaches the basics of water and why smart kinds care for this important resource. Great when combined with "A Trip Behind Your Water Faucet." (7 minutes: K-6th grade)

We Treat Water Right: The Basics of Water Quality (video and presentation) Presents the basics of water treatment, quality control, water resources, source protection and government regulation. (12 minutes: high school-adult)

Make Every Drop Count (slide show or video) Advises when to water your lawn; what plants require low water intake and minimum maintenance (20 minutes: 6th grade-adult)

Consumer's Guide to Water Conservation (video and presentation) Presents wise water use tips for indoors and outdoors. (20 minutes: high school-adult)

Water plant tours -- School groups may tour the Florence Water Treatment Plant between May 1-September 15. With advance reservations for groups of 10 to 80 on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2:45 p.m (1 hour)

It Is Safe to Drink: The Good News About Drinking Water -- Tells how your water becomes safe to drink. (28 minutes: 6th grade-adult)

Top Consumer Questions About Cryptosporidium -- This video explains what this waterborne parasite is and how water utilities remove or kill it. It will answer questions about bottled water, home filtration devices and at-risk people. (11 minutes: high school-adult)

Your Own Backyard -- A Xeriscape Primer -- Learn how to design an attractive water conserving landscape in your yard to reduce outdoor water use by 30-80 percent (53 minutes: adult)
